Referral options

​

There are several pathways to make an appointment with Calmness Psychology

GP referral (providing access to Medicare rebates)

​

Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or Eating Disorder Treatment & Management Plan (EDP)​

• How it works: Make an appointment with your GP to discuss your concerns and symptoms. If eligible, a suitable referral will be provided which allows you to claim Medicare rebates for your psychology sessions. 

• Process: If referred with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) you can access a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year, and up to 40 sessions per calendar year with an Eating Disorder Treatment & Management Plan (EDP). 

• Medicare Rebate: Medicare rebate of $98.95 is available on session fees. 

• Cost: The full session fee is payable on completion of your appointment, and the Medicare rebate of $98.95 will be paid into your nominated bank account within 24 - 48hours.

Psychiatrists and paediatricians can also provide these referrals​. We recommend you discuss your suitability with your regular health practitioner. ​

Self-referral (private)

No referral required​

• How it works: You do not require a referral to make an appointment with Calmness Psychology and can attend as a private client.

• Cost: You will pay the full session fee. While not covered by Medicare, these sessions may be covered by your private health insurance. We recommend you discuss with your health insurer to see if you are covered for psychological services.
